Afsah Institute exists to help students approach Arabic, Qur’ān, Hifdh, and Islamic learning through structured pathways, principled teachers, and disciplined study. The institute is led by Ustadha Rumsha Karim, and every Arabic class is taught from one curriculum, Lisān al-Qur’ān.

Eloquence
Faṣāḥa is the goal, not a by-product — students are taught to handle Arabic accurately enough to feel why the Qur’ān could not be matched.

Learning path
How the Arabic track fits together
Students are placed at the level that fits them and move up as they are ready. Not sure where you belong? Say so on your application and admissions will recommend a starting point.

1. Start
Elementary Arabic
Reading, core vocabulary, and the foundations of grammar, for students starting from the beginning or returning after a long break.
2. Build
Intermediate Arabic
Deeper grammar, longer passages, and wider vocabulary, for students who have finished an elementary course or place into it.
3. Read
Advanced text study
Guided reading of classical and Qur’ānic Arabic. Private tutoring can take a student here at their own pace in the meantime.

Director and Senior Instructor
Ustadha Rumsha Karim
Ustadha Rumsha Karim was born in Karachi, Pakistan but moved with her family to Florida, USA where she was raised. Her passion for learning led her to return to Pakistan to study the rigorous seven year Islamic Degree program from Jamiah Ayesha Siddiqua (رضي الله عنها), Karachi, Pakistan under the well-known scholar Doctor Amjed Sahab (رحمه الله). She taught in her University for two years prior to graduating and then returned to the United States in 2013. She has been teaching classes, workshops, and delivering lectures related to Arabic and the various Islamic disciplines to students of all age groups, including Islamic Schools, Masajid, and Universities. The bulk of her experience is in teaching methodology for learning the Arabic language with over 11 years of experience. Her zeal has led her to launch an Arabic Institute for students all around the world, so that she can connect the Quran in people’s lives and help build a stronger relationship with Allah SWT. She also holds a Bachelors of Applied Science in Information Technology and aims to build a platform for learning with ease.
